Icelanders and Aussies hell on wheels.
Posted by sarah on September 19th, 2004 filed in travelLive has been just too strange. I nearly got on last night to explain, but after posting one comment, I died again. Luckily for the undead, we recover quickly.
The whorlwind with AussieBoiVince and VenusDeValdis is over. I am not made for cycling, something about having good solid thighs that just won’t quit. Luckily I can compensate for it with stamina and fortitude that borders on the stupid, and I could almost keep up. Don’t get me wrong. I love cycling about… on flat surfaces!!! Rolling HILLS. Quayside villages!
Vince was designated ‘bad in bed’ officially, and in public since he had the tendency to fall asleep and snore pre-shower. He claimed it wasn’t his fault, but that we wouldn’t let him in first. Longer hair takes time to dry! Anyone knows that. But after a few days we finally let him in first, though it didn’t help the snoring.
I’ve hiked and driven haute provence before, but never seen it at this pace, and in this time of year, after a large chunk of the touristas have gone back, and the light isn’t quite so harsh, and there’s a cool breeze when you need it, i can’t imagine a better way to go. I just can’t figure out how they talked me into it. I think it was the “if they can do it so can I” virus. And that is a virus for which I haven’t been vacinated. The main symptom is the tight grin and grimace through the pain of using parts of your body in ways in which you didn’t know they were designed. Extreme fatigue and the desire to turn left when driving over bridges that have no left turn, in the hopes that the damage the fall inflicts will ensure a quick death or a long stay in hospital where things will be easier.
BTW, Valdis means the dead goddess. Vince? We just called him InVincible.
Sleep for a week more, then details. I’m happy to be back…
